Sew FYI and ArtworxLA might look different at first, where one’s a buzzing sewing studio where ideas turn into handmade pieces, and the other’s a nonprofit bringing arts education to students across LA. But at the core, they’re built on the same thing: creativity, community, and giving people the chance to grow. At Sew FYI, sewists of all levels come together to learn, experiment, and bring their ideas to life. At ArtworxLA, students are discovering their creative voice, building real skills, and realizing that their ideas matter. Both spaces are about opening doors, whether it’s someone picking up a sewing machine for the first time or a student gaining access to arts education they might not otherwise have.

In ArtworxLA’s After School Program, our young creatives are upcycling a haori, learning hands-on sewing techniques while exploring sustainability in fashion. They’re not just making garments; they’re building confidence, making new friends who share their passion, and shaping their future one stitch at a time. And they’re being guided by none other than renowned designer Brenda. What could be better than learning from one of the best? They’re not just making garments, they’re building confidence, forming friendships, and realizing that their creativity can take them anywhere. We can’t wait until next week!
