What is your business hour?
Mon to Fri - 10:00am -5:00pm. Saturday by appointment only. We will be closed on public holidays. However, the studio will remain open 24/7 for members only.
Where do I park at your studio?
Free street parking on 6th, Mateo, and Mill street or public parking across the building (ETO Doors).
How does your One-day, Week or Month Pass work?
One-Day Pass can be used during business hour only. You may bring your own projects and work in our super rad studio with everything it has to offer.
If you have a Month Pass or Week Pass, you are able to access the studio 24/7. A entry code will be provided for individual member. Tools, equipment, and lockers are first come first serve. Your Month or Week Pass will be expired either 30 days or 7 days at the start of your first day using the studio/workshop.
Can I bring a friend to the studio once I am a member?
Please notify studio staff a head of time. You are allowed to bring a friend if your friend only there to keep you company ( 2 hrs max) and does not use the facility. If he/she uses our facility, there will be a charge up to $295.
How much does your workshop cost?
Our workshop prices start at $80 and variate depend on the workshops. Private lessons start at $50/hour to focus your sewing need. We recommend joining Monthly membership to enjoy unlimited workshops. Click here for more details.
How does your workshop work?
We encourage people to sew what they want. You let us know what you'd like to make, and our instructor will guide you every steps. If you are new at sewing, we recommend you to take One-Session Workshop to learn the basic sewing before start to sew your own project. Our workshops are designed for beginners, intermediate or advanced sewers, see schedules for details. We offer workshops everyday except Friday and Sunday. You can sign up in person or through our website, email or call us.
What is your workshop’s cancellation policy?
If you cancel a workshop 24 hours in advance, you could reschedule it to a different date. There is no credit or refund for cancellation or missed workshop less than 24 hours. Changes made within 24hrs will result a $25 rescheduling fee. For more info, email or call us.
Do you offer kids’ workshops?
Of course, we love kids. Our workshop doesn't have age limit, kids are welcome to join. The kid age we recommend is 7 years old.
What if I am late to a workshop?
Instructor will only be presence during the workshop’s hours to offer instruction or help with your project. If you are late, we won’t be able to make up the time. So please, be prompt.
What if I miss one session of a 5-session workshop?
Multi-session workshops are designed to learn at your own pace. You can schedule your own date. If you are unable to make it to the date scheduled, please reschedule within 24 hours in advance. There is no credit or refund for cancellation or a missed workshop less than 24 hours. A $25 fee will be applied for rescheduling within 24 hrs of workshop scheduled date.
Which workshop should I take since it has been a while from the last time I’ve sewn?
We would suggest beginner workshop as a start to refresh your memory and regain your skill. The workshop introduces sewing machine parts, winding a bobbin, threading the machine, and simple construction techniques. You can always move to intermediate or advance workshop whenever you are ready to learn new skills.
Which workshop should I take if I am new to sewing?
One Session Workshop is perfect for you! You will learn how to operate a sewing machine and make a simple totebag! One Beginner session workshop builds a strong foundation for you. You can follow with any project you may have in mind afterward.
Should I buy a sewing machine before my first workshop?
Sewing machine is included in the workshop. We recommend to wait until after you have taken our beginner workshop. You will get familiar with the sewing machine and find out which machine suit you the best.
Do I have to bring my own sewing machine or can I use yours?
You can do either one. If you have sewing machine, we recommend you to use your own. This way, you can learn on your own machine and practice more at home. Practice makes perfect! If you don’t have a machine, you are more then welcome to use studio's machine.
Do you charge using your sewing machine?
If you are member or attending the workshop, sewing machines are included. Other than of that, you are welcome to purchase a One-day Pass to enjoy using variety of machines in our studio. One-day Pass is $50 and $175 for 5 One-day Pass. Please note Day-Pass can only be used during our business hours.
Do you sell sewing machine and what kind of sewing machine do you recommend?
We don’t sell sewing machines at our studio. We recommend you come in our studio to try different type of machines we have and find out which works best for you and your need.
What do I need to bring to workshop?
We have variety of sewing tools available to use in our studio, including threads in assorted color. If you have specific need in tools and materials then you may bring your own. For 5 Session Sewing Workshop, we provide basic fabrics. In other workshops, you may need to bring your own fabrics.
Do you sell sewing supplies at your studio?
We provide most of the basic tools you need to sew in our studio, so you don’t have to buy. However, we do sell limited sewing supplies for your sewing need at home.
Do you offer alteration and repair services?
Yes, we do. Our price is $25/hour and minimum is an hour.
Do you sell fabric?
We do not sell fabric. However, we have collaboration program with The Fabric Store. When you shop at The Fabric Store, show your receipt of purchase at Sew FYI to get 15% off when you purchase fabrics at The Fabric Store.
How do I hear about about your news, events or promotions?
You can sign up for our newsletter. It’s completely free! We send out newsletters for upcoming events, exciting new projects and any new equipment, tools, etc.
Do you rent your space for private parties, events or filming?
We do, as long as it does not interfere with a previously scheduled class. Please email or call us for more info.
I want to be a clothing designer and start my own line. How do I get started?
We recommend you to give us a call or email to discuss your plan. That way, we can give you recommendations to suit your need and budget,
How long does it take to be really good at sewing?
Sewing is a skill to master by practice. The more you practice, the quicker you’ll advance. If you stick with it, you’ll be whipping up your own garments in no time!
What kind of payment form do you accept?
Major credit cards: Vista, Master, America Express, Discover, and Cash. Check is not accepted.
Do you teach how to use industry sewing machines?
Yes, we do! We offer one-on-one instruction to focus your need. They include single, zigzag, blind-stich, cover-stitch, and serger. Please note every brand and machines model may different but they work in very similar way.
Do I have to pay extra to use the locker?
It is free to weekly or monthly members only! Lockers are first come first serve. Just find an empty one and bring your own lock! Please note, space is limited therefore, one locker per member. Lockers may only be used to store fabrics, paper and tools. No foods or drinks allowed. Once your pass is expired, you have 48 hours to clean out your locker. Otherwise, we will cut your lock and discard or donate your storage.
Do you have anyone that can help me create pattern and sewing?
Yes! we do. We have an in-house experienced and talented tailor to offer custom made item. However, if you need tutorial, it is $50/hr - 2 hrs minimum. We recommend making reservation 48 hours in advance.
